BNP activist allegedly beaten to death in Jhenaidah

A BNP activist has been beaten to death allegedly by a mob in Maheshpur of Jhenaidah district.

The deceased was known as Jafar Hossain, son of late Jabed Ali. He was involved with local BNP politics.

The incident took place in Jibon Nagar Para of Samanta village in the upazila around 11:30 pm on Thursday (March 20).

Kazirber union BNP convener Kamal Hossain said, "Last night, at around 9 pm, local Jamaat leader Saidur Rahman called BNP activist Zafar from his house. Later, a group led by Jamaat leader Amirul Islam beat him with iron rod, leaving him dead on the spot."

Maheshpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fayez Uddin Mridha said on information, police rushed to the spot. Details can be said later.
