Teknaf boat capsize: 4 bodies recovered, one BGB member missing

Four bodies, including a woman, were recovered from the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf after a boat carrying Rohingyas capsized while attempting to cross into Bangladesh from Myanmar.
Several people, including a member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), are still missing.
The missing BGB member has been identified as Billal Hossain. He was stationed at the Shahpari Island BGB Border Outpost.
The bodies of the Rohingyas were recovered from the western coastal area of Shahpari Island in Teknaf by 7:30PM on Saturday (March 22).
Earlier around 2:30 am on Saturday, a total of 25 Rohingyas, including woman, man and children, were rescued during the incident.
According to locals, a boat carrying Rohingyas from Myanmar was seen floating off the west shore of Shahpari Island in Teknaf early Saturday. BGB personnel, with the help of local residents, moved to rescue them, but the boat capsized in the rough sea.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Ashiqur Rahman, commanding officer (CO) of the Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion, confirmed the incident.
