18 kilometers of Dhaka Bypass Expressway opens

To ensure smooth journey ahead of the Eid, the 18 kilometers of the 48-kilometer-long Dhaka Bypass Expressway from Bhogra in Gazipur have been temporarily opened.

The road was opened on Thursday (March 27), said the project manager Sumon Singh.

Vehicles will be able to travel on this road without any toll for five days before and five days after Eid.

Semi-rigid pavement technology has been used for the first time on this expressway, using modern Chinese technology. No bricks were used on the road. As a result, it will be more durable and maintenance costs will be significantly reduced compared to conventional asphalt roads.

When the road is fully operational, vehicles from North Bengal will be able to travel to the Chittagong and Sylhet regions without entering Dhaka.
