Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: The Bahaddarhat Flyover constructed at a cost of Tk 150 crore has become useless as it has filed to reduce traffic congestion in the area significantly.
Huge traffic congestion is created at the roads under the flyover as most of the vehicles avoid the flyover use.
The much-awaited Bahaddarhat Flyover opened to traffic last year in a bid to reduce traffic congestion in the area significantly. However, from the beginning experts and locals were doubtful about its benefits.
Talking to risingbd, a bus driver said, “We don’t use the flyover as we don’t passengers”.
The 1.39km long flyover project was undertaken by the CDA with its own funds. The government approved the project on December 30, 2009. The prime minister laid the foundation stone of the project on January, 2010 and the construction work began in December that year.
The construction was stopped for around seven months following a girder collapse that killed 14 people on November 24, 2012.
