Four siblings among 5 get life-term in Khulna

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: A Khulna court has sentenced five people including four siblings to life-term rigorous imprisonment over a farmer murder in 2003.
The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each in the case.
Judge Mehedi Hassan Talukdar of Khulna Additional District and Session Judge Court-4 passed the order on Tuesday noon.
The convict four siblings were known as Shahjahan Mollah, 25, Ashraf Mollah, 22, Suja Uddin Mollah, 32 and Ismail Mollah, 27. They all are sons of late Dalil Uddin Mollah of Dakshin Modinabad village of the district’s Koira upazila.
Another convict is Jamal Uddin Mollah, 35, son of late Sakim Uddin Mollah of the same village.
All the convicts were present during announcement of the verdict.
Quoting the case statement, Additional Public Prosecutor of the court Hemanto Kumar Sarkar said, “Lutfor Rahman Mollah went for fishing to a water bank of the village on the night of Julay 27, 2003. His son Halim Mollah found him hacked dead on the following morning as he did not return home on the night. A case was filed alleging that Lutfor was murdered over enmity.
