Rape case accused killed in ‘gunfight’ with RAB

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: An accused in a rape case was killed in a “gunfight” between the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and terrorists in Chokoria upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 20.

Acting on a tiff-off that Rahim along with his cohorts was taking position in Chokoria upazila of Cox's Bazar around 1:00am, a team of RAB members conducted a drive there. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Rahim and his cohorts opened the fire, forcing the RAB members to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, said Major Md Ruhul Amin, company captain of RAB-7 Cox’s Bazar camp.

After the incident, Rahim was found dead on the spot, he said.

A pistol, some bullets and arms were recovered from the spot, he added.

Rahim was an accused in a case filed for raping four-year-old girl in the upazila on March 26.
