Case filed over mother-son murder in Sylhet

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: A case was filed accusing four to five unknown people in connection with the murder of a woman and her son at Kharpara area in Mirabazar of Sylhet city.

Zakir Hossain, brother of the deceased Rokeya Begum, filed the case with Kotwali Model Thana on Sunday night, said Gousul Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

The OC said police are searching domestic help Tania who fled the house after the incident. Mystery over the murder will be divulged once she is arrested.

Police recovered the bodies of Rokeya Begum, 40 and her son Rabiul Islam Rokon, 17 from a house at Mirabazar area in Sylhet city on Sunday noon. A five-year-old baby girl was also rescued alive from the house during this time.

Rokeya Begum used to work at a beauty parlour and her son sat for this year’s SSC examination from Mirabazar Jameya school.
