Kushtia Correspondent: Nazmul Islam, vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)-Kushtia District unit, was not murdered. He took his life himself, claimed the district superintendent of police (SP) SM Mehedi Hassan.
The SP came up with the disclosure in a press briefing at Kushtia Police Line on Thursday noon. Nazmul’s family members also gave their consent to the statement during the briefing.
Nazmul’s father Altaf Hossain, mother Nazma Khatun, newlywed wife Urmi Khatun were present at the press briefing.
The SP said Nazmul committed suicide from his frustration. Police recovered a one-shooter gun used in suicide and a pistol.
He, however, could not clear why Nazmul was disappointed.
Nazmul’s mother Nazma Khatun said, “I rushed in Nazmul’s room after getting sound of firing and found his bullet-hit body lying on the floor. We immediately concealed the arms at a neighbour’s house from fear. Then, Nazmul’s newlywed wife was weeping there sitting beside the body.”
Nazmul’s body in bullet-hit at the head was recovered around 2:45am on Wednesday from his living room of Farazipara of the district’s sadar upazila.
