Separate road crashes in Tangail leave 7 workers dead

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: Seven workers were killed and 40 others injured in separate road accidents in Kalihati and Ghatail upazilas of the district on Monday morning.
Of the road accident victims, six workers were killed and at least 29 others injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Kalihati upazila of the district around 6:15 am.
The accident took place near Saturia bridge at Kalihati bus stand area.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Mir Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalihati Police Station, said the Habiganj-bound truck from Gaibandha carrying a group of fell into the ditch around 6:15 am after the driver lost control over the steering, leaving six workers dead on the spot and 29 others injured.
The injured were rushed to 250-bed Tangail General Hospital.
All the deceased were the workers of Pran-RFL Group.
In another accident, a man was killed and 11 others injured as a pick-up van carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in Ghatail upazila around 10:30am.
The deceased was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 35.
Maksudul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghatail Police Station, confirmed the matter.
The injured were admitted to 250-bed Tangail General Hospital, the OC said.
