Lightning kills 4, injures 8 in Satkhira

Satkhira Correspondent: At least four people were killed and eight others injured in separate incidents of lightning strike in Shyamnagar and Sadar upazilas of the district on Monday noon.
The deceased were identified as Saju Hossain, 28, son of Abdus Salam, Abul Khayer, 25, son of Abdul Jabbar, Josna Das, 35, wife of Srikanto Das and Zinnatunesa, 32, wife of Mujit Mollah.
Syed Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said women workers were working in a fishing farm in Gumontoli village this noon. Meanwhile, a thunderbolt struck them, leaving the two women dead on the spot.
Jossna Mandal, 35, wife of Srikanto Das and Zinnatunnesa, 32, wife of Mujid Molla of Gumontoli village in Shyamnagar upazila were killed and six others injured when as they were working at a fish enclosure in the afternoon.
Besides, Maruf Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said Saju Hossain and his 3-4 workers were returning home after working in his fish enclosure in Choubaria village. Meanwhile, a thunderbolt hit them, leaving Saju dead on the spot.
On the other hand, Abul Khayer of Tegharia village in Bhomra area died on the spot after the thunderbolt struck him amid rain.
