Munshiganj Correspondent: A key suspect in the murder of progressive writer-publisher Shahjahan Bachchu has died in an alleged shootout with police in Munshiganj’s Sirajdikhan upazila in the early hours of today.

Three police members have also been injured in this connection.

Munshiganj District Intelligence Officer Md Najrul Islam confirmed this to risingbd.com.

Police accompanied Rahman and raided Khashmahal-balurchar in Sirajdikhan to apprehend his cohorts.

When the raid was underway, Rahman’s accomplices opened fire on the police, forcing the law enforcers to fight back triggering a gun battle, which led to the death of Abdur Rahman and injuries of three police members.

The injured police members are Sirajdikhan Police Station’s Assistant Sub-Inspector Delowar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Md Hasan and Constable Mosharrof.

The body of Abdur Rahman has been sent to Munsiganj General Hospital morgue. The injured police officials were admitted to the same hospital.

Some unidentified criminals gunned down a writer-publisher and former CPB leader in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on June 11, 2018.
