Awami League expat leader hacked dead

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: An expatriate leader of Awami League was hacked to death by miscreants in Tatipara intersection of Zindabazar in the district town yesterday night.

The deceased was identified as SM Abdul Ahad, 40, son of Haji Nur Miah of Karimpur area in Rajnagar upazila of Moulvibazar and organising secretary of Kuwait unit of Awami League.

Witnesses said that a group of miscreants attacked him around 11:00pm on Friday and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Mosharraf Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station said the body was kept at the hospital morgue.
