Eight Jamaat men arrested, 7 petrol bombs seized

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested eight leaders and activists of Jamaat from a secret meeting they were holding to plan to carry out subversive activities in Ranpur.
The law enforcers also seized seven petrol bombs, huge number of extremism books and leaflets from the spot.
Assistant Director of RAB-13 Ahsan Habib told this to the reporters on Friday afternoon.
The arrestees are: Wazed Ali Shah, 61, Amir of Satgara Thana Jamaat, Ershadaul Haque, 36, Rafiqul Islam, 60, Motiar Rahman, 52, all of residents of Madhyapirjabad Rahmatpara, Mozammel Hauqe, 60, Redwanul Hauqe, 38, Merazul Islam, 30 and Abdul Karim, 60 of Damdurpur area.
Ahsan Habib said, “Acting on a tip off, RAB-13 conducted an operation at Labur Mill Bazar area of Damdurpur on Friday morning and arrested them.
Wazed Ali was sued in more than once sabotage cases, he added.
The arrestees said in a primary interrogation that they were running organising activities through secret meetings for seven or eight years, the RAB official said.
