Mystery behind schoolboy Nifat murder uncovered

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Mystery behind schoolboy Iftiak Hossain Nifat, 11, of Gazipur has been uncovered. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested key accused and four of his associates over the incident.

The news was revealed by a press statement sent by RAB-1 Porabari camp of Gazipur on Friday noon.

The arrestees were known as Rafiqul Islam, 26, son of Razab Ali of Noapara area under Durgapur thana in Netrokona, his wife Tanjina, 18, his mother Rezia Begum, 45, Ali Ahmed’s wife Majeda Begum, 40, and Manjura Begum, 25, wife of Kabirul Islam, of the same area.

RAB said, Nifat, son of Hazrat Ali, was abducted from Bahadurpur area on Wednesday. Earlier of being abducted, he was playing badminton with Rafiqul. Later, abductors phoned his father demanding Tk 30 lakh ransom. They told him to go to Mymensingh with money. But on the following day (Thursday) Nifat’s body was found in a mango garden nearly 150 yards away from Rafiqul’s rented house.

On December 27, a team of RAB-1 led by Lt. Abdullah Al-Mamun, also company commander of Porabari camp, held the five people on secret information. They, later, confessed to the killing in primary interrogation.

RAB said, Rafiqul has been residing at different rented houses at Bahadurpur and working in different garment factories for 10 years.
