Rifat killers won’t be spared: IGP

Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary said that none of the Rifat killers will be spared.

He said, “Red alert has already been issued at every border point so that the killers cannot flee the country. Alongside, Immigration Department has also been asked to be cautious in this regard.”

IGP on Sunday came up with the statement while replying to questions of reporters after inaugurating newly constructed office of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Rangpur.

Police chief said, “Till now, eight people were nabbed for their alleged involvement in Rifat killing. Other killers are being detected justifying CCTV footage. There are many more accused out of the First Report (FR) of the case as well. All the culprits will be arrested and brought to book.”

Mentionable, miscreants hacked Rifat Sharif indiscriminately to death in front of his wife in Barguna town on broad day light on Wednesday morning.

A video clip that went viral online showed that Rifat’s wife Ayesha Siddiqua Minni tried a lot to save her husband from the clutches of killers, but she failed. The incident sparked outrages across the country.

Rifat was only son of his parents.

When asked about vehicle crisis in Rangpur Metropolitan Police, IGP said, “It is not a crisis which exists in Rangpur only. Police across the country are facing vehicle shortage. Recently, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allotted several vehicles for cops. The crisis will ease once the vehicles are provided.
