‘Top terror’ killed in Gazipur gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: An alleged ‘top terror’ was killed in a gunfight with police in Safipur area under Kaliakoir upazila of the district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Leon, 38, son of Shafiuddin Siddiki, hailed from Safipur of the upazila.

Alamgir Hossain Mozumdar, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir police station said Leon was wanted in murder and drug cases. The law enforcers arrested him from Konabari area. Following his, police conducted a drive to recover fire arms and drugs in various key areas of Kaliakoir. At one stage, the cohorts of Leon opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the shootout.

Later, police recovered bullet-hit Leon from the spot and sent him to the upazila health complex. Meanwhile, a pistol and three round of bullets were found from the spot.
