Now can take breath at ease: Minni

Staff Correspondent: “They have chopped my husband to death in front of me. I tried my best to save my husband but failed. I want no girls in the world face such brutality,” said Ayesha Siddika Minni, wife of Rifat Sharif.

Minni came up with the reaction in response to the death news of Sabbir Hossain Nayan alias Nayan Bond who was the main accused in Rifat Sharif murder case.

Minni said, “Now, I can take breath at ease. I express my gratitude to the law enforcement agencies and also extend my thanks to the Prime Minister. I demand quick arrest of the remaining accused and their maximum punishment.”

Bursting into tears, the victim’s father Dulal Sharif said, “I cannot get back my lost son but I am happy hearing the death news of the main accused Nayan Bond. I believe the soul of my son will rest in peace.”

He also demanded exemplary punishment for the rest accused.

In the early hours on Tuesday, Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with police in Purakata area of Barguna.

A pistol, four rounds of bullet and three lethal weapons were recovered from his possession.

Nayan Bond was wanted in eight cases, according to police.

Mentionable, about 4/5 criminals including Nayan and Rifat Farajee attacked Rifat Sharif (25) with sharp weapon in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College Wednesday (June 26) morning while her wife was desperately trying to save him.

The entire incident was captured possibly on a mobile phone and footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Immediately after the attack, locals took Rifat to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSMCH).  Later, he was pronounced dead.

Rifat was the only son of Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif at Boro Lobongola village in Burirchar union under Barguna sadar upazila.
