Japanese foreign minister visits Rohingya camp

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono has reached Kutupalong camp at Ukhia in Cox's Baza to see Rohingya people who took shelter in Bangladesh after facing persecution in Myanmar.
The Japanese foreign minister reached Cox’s Bazar around 1:00 pm on Tuesday.
Later, he visited the Rohingya camp there and also talked to the members of Rohingya community to get an overview of the situation.
The Japanese foreign minister arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit on July 29 at the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart AK Abdul Momen.
He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart AK Abdul Momen.
Some 750,000 Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh to avoid atrocities in Myanmar’s Rakhine State after August 25, 2017. In clashes between the Myanmar army and the Arakan Army since early this year, thousands more were displaced.
