Sylhet city mayor Ariful receives death threat

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury has received death threat over phone on Saturday morning.

Shahabuddin Shihab, public relations officer (PRO) of the mayor office, filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station considering the mayor’s security.

The mayor received phone calls from two unknown mobile phone numbers around 10:05am and was threatened with life by the callers, Shahabuddin Shihab said.

Selim Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Thana under Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter.
