Deaths of 2 of a family spark panic

Two members of a family died following sudden fever at Jasaldia village in Lauhajong Upazila of Munshiganj, triggering panic among locals.

The deceased are Mir Abdur Rahman, 3, son of Mir Sohel of Jasaldia village of Lauhajong and his aunt Shamima Begum, 34.

A panic was created among locals following a news that the two members of the family died being affected with Coronavirus. But authorities concerned confirmed that Coronavirus did not cause their deaths as they found no proof regarding this.

Mir Abdur Rahman died 18 hours after the death of his aunt Shamima Begum around 8:30am on Sunday.

Both the aunt and nephew were suffering from high fever, said Mir Shibli, brother of Mir Sohel.

“We informed Upazila Health Complex’s doctors, who visited the house and examined the body of the child,” Shibli said.

Munshiganj Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Kalam Azad said a medical team of the Upazila Health Complex visited the house as the family members demanded a proper medical examination.
