Two women held with 61,000 yaba tablets

Police have detained two women with 61,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Notun Bridge area in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj early Thursday.

The detainees are Nahida Begum, 27, wife of Sohel Mia from Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district and Shahina Aktar, 40, daughter of Abdul Kadir from Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat.

Mohammad Ullah, police super of Habiganj, said on Thursday night that Nahida and Shahina were going to Dhaka from Sylhet by a bus of Hanif Paribahan around 1:30am on Thursday.

Acting on a tiff-off, a team of police stopped the bus and searched for their bodies. Later, they found packets of yaba tablets wrapped with scotch tape in their abdomens and breasts, he said.

Police members detained the duo in connection with the seizure of yaba tablets, he added.
