Robber gang leader killed in ‘gunfight’

The head of a robber gang was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Bulu Mia, 40.

The gunfight that took place around 4:30 am at Bortal village in Kagabala union of the upazila left five policemen injured.

The injured police members are Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moulvibazar Model Police Station Alamgir Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) Korban Ali, constables Niloy Pal, Suranjit Roy and Nirupam Pal.

In this connection, two members of the robber gang were detained along with guns, bullets, local arms, two CNGs and equipment used to carry out robbery.

The detainees are Lal Mia, 45, son of Abdul Bari and Afjal Mia, 28, son of Haider Mia.

Confirming the matter, Moulvibazar’ Additional Police Super (Sadar circle) Md Ziaur Rahman said the body was sent to Moulvibazar 250-bed hospital morgue for autopsy.
