Wife set on fire to death, husband arrested

Police have arrested a man for allegedly setting on fire his wife to death at Khutamara in Lalmonirhat.

The arrestee was known as Khokon Islam, 46.

It was learnt that police recovered body of Lucky Begum from his Khokon’s house around 10:30pm on Sunday. On the night, deceased’s brother Zakir Hossain filed a case with sadar police station.

Lucky Begum is daughter of late Abdus Samad of Khochabari Linepara under Lalmonirhat municipality. She got married Khokon before 12 years.

According to police, Khokon set fire on his wife on April 22 night, leaving her burnt severely. She was rushed to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital. On Sunday morning, Khokon took her home from the hospital in name of better treatment, But she succumbed to her injuries on the night.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered Lucky’s body. Law enforces also arrested him.

Lalmonirhat sadar police station officer-in-charge confirmed the news.
