Rohingya killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A suspected Rohingya drug trader has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Ramu of Cox’s Bazar.

The gunfight took place on Tuesday midnight in Bagan area of Cox’s Bazar –Chattogram highway.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Rashid alias Khorshed.

Police also recovered 30,000 Yaba tables,   a LG and a motorcycle from the spot.

DB police inspector Manas Barua said Khorshed was smuggling yaba riding a motorcycle. He opened fire on policemen when they challenged him. Policemen also fired back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight. The bullet-hit body of Khorshed was recovered from the spot and he was immediately taken to Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital where duty doctors declared him dead, he also said.
