Fire at Gazipur cotton warehouse

A fire broke out at a cotton warehouse of a textile factory in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila on Friday afternoon was brought under control after 16 hours of frantic effort from firefighters.

Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Md Mamunur Rashid said the fire broke out in the warehouse of Viyellatex Limited located in Tepirbari area around 1:45pm.

Being informed by locals, seven firefighting units from Kaliakoir and Sreepur of Gazipur, Bhaluka and Trishal of Mymensingh rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after more than 16 hours of frantic effort. The firefighters brought the blaze under control around 6:15am on Saturday, the official added.

Huge amount of cotton was gutted in the fire.

The reason behind the fire could not be known yet.
