Police on high alert on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Law enforcers have set up check post at Mirzapur bypass on Dhaka-Tangail highway. They are forcing norther region-bound vehicles to turn back to Dhaka since Wednesday morning.

It was seen on the spot at the noon that all kinds of vehicles are forcing to turn back to Dhaka except transports carrying essential commodities. As a result, many of passengers started for their destination on foots as alternative. Many were also seen to head towards the destination by hired motorcycles. However, home-goers fell in immense sufferings because of strict measures of law enforcers to stem the spread of coronavirus.

Traffic Inspector Showkat Hossain said people those are ill and permitted by the ministry are allowing to move on. Other people, who are moving from one district to another without logical reason, are being turned back to the way they came from.

Traffic Department and Mirzapur Police are jointly conducting the check post, he added.
