Shakil sets an example of honesty

Now the entire world is going through a pandemic period. Any humane event touches the heart in these ominous days of the pandemic that a disease named coronavirus or COVID-19 has initiated across the globe. The light of hope remains awake in the mind amid a myriad disappointments. A kind of courage arises in the mind-- 'man' is still there, humanity is awake. Honesty in society still prevails!

Sanjay Banik made an order to prepare mattress and pillow for him at Shakil Bedding Store in Terabazar of Sherpur district. At the same time, he also asked for fixing two old pillows. There were Tk 25,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Tk 50,000 inside a pillow. Shakil, son of shop owner Askar Ali, found money and ornaments inside a pillow while filling cotton into the pillow.

Shakil instantly contacted to Sanjay Banik over phone and shared the matter with him. He asked Sanjay Banik to come to the store to receive the items. He handed over the items to Sanjay Banik when he arrived.

Sanjay Banik was highly surprised by such an example of honesty! He couldn't believe his ears when he got the phone call. Because he forgot about the money and ornaments kept inside the pillow.

Referring to the fact that honest, good-hearted people are still there in the society, Sanjay Banik said, "I searched for the money and ornaments at home for long but couldn’t find. I got a phone call from Shakil at a time when I kept continuing the search. I became pleased to hear about the money and ornaments from him. Lots of love and blessings for him."

Shakil could have either hidden or denied the matter. But instead of doing so, he returned all the things to the real owner, setting an example of honesty. The honesty he has set earned him lots of praises. Shakil said, "I am happy with what Allah has given me. Alhamdulillah."

Shakil is a degree first year student of Sherpur Government College. He works in their shop with his father alongside his studies.
