Physician suffering from breathing problem dies in Sylhet

Dr Gopal Shankar Dey, retired professor of Department of Psychiatry at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, died of fever and breathing difficulties.
He breathed his last around 8:30 pm on Saturday (June 27) at a private hospital while undergoing treatment, said Dr Akhlaq Ahmad, assistant professor at the hospital.
Gopal Shankar was admitted to the private hospital on June 21 with fever and shortness of breath. After his admission to the hospital, his Covid-19 test report came out negative. However, sample has been given for the second test. That report has not come yet.
However, the body was cremated following the health guidelines as he had symptoms similar to that of coronavirus, said Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, deputy director at the hospital.
