Human chain demanding health minister resignation, 6 held

Police on Sunday charged baton on a human chain of Progressive Students’ Alliance, formed in Rangpur on five-point demand including resignation of health minister.
Law enforcers also held six leaders and activists including Abdul Quddus, the district coordinator Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) from the human chain.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahsid confirmed about the detention.
According to police and witnesses, leaders and activists of Progressive Students’ Alliance formed a human chain with banners and festoons in front of Rangpur Press Club on Sunday. But police immediately charged batons and dispersed them. Law enforcers also held six leaders and activists from the human chain. BSD leader Abdul Quddus, Students’ Union (BSU) leader Nahid and Bishal and Students Front leader Kallyan and Shuvo were among the detainees.
Kotwali Police Station OC Abdur Rashid said they were held on charges of creating anarchy in the name of human chain to obscure the political situation in the country during the corona crisis.
