‘JMB planned to commit robbery in Mymensingh’

The banned militant outfit JMB had planned to commit robbery at a bank in Mymensingh to raise funds and to increase new members.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin told a news conference at the RAB-14 headquarters in the city’s Fulbaria bypass on Saturday (September 4) noon.

He said, “Based on intelligence information, we had learned that this militant group had a plan to rob several organizations. As part of this, the militants came to Mymensingh to commit robbery in a nearby bank. But today’s raid foiled their plan.”

He added, “On August 31, the militants gathered for a secret meeting at a hideout in Madarganj of Jamalpur. On the afternoon of September 1, they started their journey from the Jamtala Char area of Jamalpur by a motor-run boat across the Brahmaputra river. They traveled to different chars to maintain confidentiality. Then at midnight, they reached Khagdahar area of Mymensingh through Brahmaputra river.”

Mentionable, on Saturday morning at Khagdahar of Mymensingh, on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, militants fired on RAB members. At that time, RAB arrested four of the militants with weapons.
