DUET student commits suicide

A Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) student reportedly committed suicide in his own mess room in West Bhurulia area of Gazipur.

The deceased was known as Abu Jihad Mandal, 25, a third-year student of the civil engineer dept of DUET.

Police and local sources said the victim went to the washroom to take bath this noon. Later, his roommate Abdul Halim noticed him hanging from the washroom’s ventilator and screamed.

Meanwhile, locals rushed to the spot and took the Jihad Mandal to Gazipur Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar police station Sub-inspector Md Alamin confirmed the matter.
