Kabita wins Sirajganj-6 by-polls

Awami League (AL) candidate Merina Jahan Kabita has unofficially won the Sirajganj-6 (Shahjadpur) by-polls.

She with symbol of ‘boat’ secured 1,10,580 votes while her nearest Jatiya Party candidate Moktar Hossain (Plough) got 535 votes.

Independent candidate Advocate Humayun Kabir bagged 343 votes.

Returning Officer (RO) and Rajshahi divisional election officer Md Faridul Islam made the announcement around 9:00 pm on Tuesday (November 2).

The seat fell vacant after Awami League lawmaker Md Hasibur Rahman Swapon died of coronavirus on September 2.
