Case filed over deaths of five brothers

A case has been filed over the death of five brothers after being hit by a pickup van in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Plaban Chandra Sushil, brother of the deceased, filed the case against the driver of the vehicle late on Tuesday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria police station Osman Goni confirmed the news on Wednesday (February 9) morning.
Earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, Highway police seized the pickup, but had yet to identify and arrest the driver of the vehicle.
Five brothers— Dr Anupam Sushil, 47, Nirupam Sushil, 45, Dipak Sushil, 40, Champak Sushil, 30, and Swaran Sushil, 24—were killed in a hit-and-run on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway at around 5:30am on Tuesday.
Suresh Chandra Sushil, father of the deceased, died 10 days ago and his all the seven sons and two daughters went to a temple for worshipping early in the morning as a part of last rites of Suresh.
After the worshipping, all the nine siblings had been returning home and a Cox’s Bazar-bound pick-up van hit them while they had been crossing the road at about 5:00am, leaving the seven brothers injured. Five of the injured died later.
