Seven deaths reported in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar flood

Seven people, who went missing in the flood of Sylhet, Sunamganj and Moulvibazar, have been recovered. The deaths include women and children as well.
It was learned on Monday (June 20), of the deaths, three are from Sylhet sadar, three from Satak of Sunamganj and another from Moulvibazar.
Three bodies including a woman and her grandson were recovered from Kandiagaon union of Sadar upazila in Sylhet. They were known as Sadar upazila BCL leader A K Abul Kashem, 24, and his grandmother Sureton Nesa, 105. They both are from Sujatpur. Another was Abdul Hadi, 18, a resident of Nokot village.
Professor Selim Ahmed, Sadar upazila Swechchasebak League leader, confirmed the matter.
He said, “Abul Kashme had been living with his family at Madina market area. He went to his village to take his grandmother and cousin on Thursday as flood water is on the rise. The boat carrying them sank at Sujatpur Ideal School area while they were returning. Though his cousin managed to escape drowning as she grabbed the boat turtle, but Abul Kashem and his grandmother went missing. Body of Surentunesa floated on Friday while Abul Kashem on Sunday morning. They were buried at Kumargaon area under the supervision of Army.
Meanwhile, body of Abdul Hadi, 18, found floating at Nolkot area under Knadigaon union around 3:30 pm on Thursday. He is known as son of expatriate Kasa Mia.
Abdul Malik Mamun, Headmaster of Nolkot Government Primay School, confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, Pijush, 40, of Akhra area of Satak municipality area and Juned, 27, of Radhanagar of Saila-Afzalabad area drowned in the water. Juned’s body was found on Sunday.
Satak Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter.
School-girl Hanifa begum was found dead from Jouabazar area of Satak in Sunamganj. The body of nine-year-old girl was recovered from Kaitkona area on Sunday. She was known as daughter of late Julu Mia of Bormoha village under Shantiganj upazila. She drowned as she went to visit her uncle’s home.
Her maternal uncle Sofed Ali Peer confirmed the matter.
A nine-year-girl Sumaiya drowned at Borolekha in Moulvibazar. Her body was found from Adityamahal area on Sunday afternoon. She was known as daughter of Shahabuddin of Gaziteka.
Borolekha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter.
