Former ward councillor hacked to death in Chapainawabganj

Former ward councilor and Swechchasebak league leader Khairul Islam Jame (50) was hacked to death by miscreants in Udayan Mor area of Chapainawabganj.

The incident took place on Wednesday (April 19) evening. 

Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sazzad confirmed the matter.

Khairul Islam Jame was known as son of Edu Master of Mardana in Shibganj municipality and councillor of ward No 9. Besides, he was a member of District Swechchasebak League.

According to eyewitnesses, miscreants swooped on Jame and hacked him with sharp weapons in the evening, leaving him seriously injured. Later the locals rescued him and took him to the district hospital.

Chapainawabganj district hospital emergency department doctor Munira Khatun said, “In the evening, some young people brought Khairul Alam Jame to the hospital for treatment. One of his toes was cut off while inujry marks were found on different parts of his body.

She also said, “When the patient’s physical condition was deteriorating, they thought of transferring him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. But before that he died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.”
