Police-BNP clash leaves 20 injured in Khulna

At least 20-25 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its associate organisations were injured in a clash with police in Khulna.
The clash took place in front of Khulna press club at around 4:00 pm on Friday (May 19).
BNP leaders alleged that police opened fire first. As a result, Senati union ward BNP member Mujibur Rahman, Juba Dal leader Jahidur, and others were injured.
Earlier, BNP organized a rally in front of the Press Club on Friday afternoon to press home their 10-point demand including the resignation of the government. BNP standing committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury joined the program as a chief guest.
Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy police commissioner Md Tazul Islam tear shells were fired to disperse the party activists.
