Two siblings drown in Thakurgaon pond

A brother and his sister drowned in a pond at Ruhia union under Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district on Saturday (September 16) morning.

The deceased were identified as Sampad Kumar, 7, and his sister Moharani, 4, children of Doyal Chandra Barman, residents of Chameshwari village under Senua union of the upazila.

Sources said the siblings drowned in the pond while they were playing on the bank of the pond.

As the siblings were not available, their relatives started searching for them and found them floating in the water.

Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ruhia Police Station, said being informed, police recovered the bodies and handed over to the family.
