Public life disrupted as Dinajpur receives 159mm rainfall

Dinajpur received 159mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 9 am on Sunday (September 24), disrupting public life in the district, according to the local weather office.

Due to the incessant rain for several days, no one can come out of their homes. Day labourers are the worst sufferers of the heavy rainfall.

The local weather office predicted rain for another five days in the district.

The low-lying areas and roads in the district are about to go under water following incessant rains, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.

A van driver said, “We cannot come out of our home as it had been raining incessantly for several days. How we will manage our foods if we fail to come out of our home?”

Vegetable trader Abdul Khalek said, “I opened my shop in the morning and was waiting for customers but sorry to say there was no customers. People cannot come outside their home due to heavy rain.”

Asaduzzaman Asad, in charge of Dinajpur Met Office, said the district received 20mm of rainfall on Friday, 23mm of rainfall on Saturday and 159mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 9 am today.

There is a possibility of rain for another five days, he added.
