24 killed as two trains collide in Bhairab

At least 24 people have been killed and several others injured after a container train hit a passenger train Egarosindur Express from behind in Bhairab of Kishoreganj on Monday (October 23) afternoon.

Besides, many passengers got trapped under the wheels of the train.

Bhairab railway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alim Hossain Shikdar confirmed the news and said the death toll may rise further.

Meanwhile, fire fighters and police rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched a rescue operation.

Eye witnesses said the container train heading towards Chattogram collided with the Dhaka-bound Egarosindhur Express around 3pm at Jagannathpur crossing.
