Fishermen in Barguna district have started to catch Hilsa after a 22-day fishing ban that was lifted on Thursday midnight.
Fishermen brought in a huge quantity of Hilsa to the Pathargatha market on Friday morning, cheering trawler owners, traders and fishermen.
Fishermen are happy as their fish is sold at a good price and hoped to catch plenty of Hilsa this season.
Earlier on October 12, the government imposed a ban on catching, selling, hoarding, and transportation of Hilsa in the Bay of Bengal and different rivers for 22 days to boost Hilsa production through the protection of the mother fish during its peak breeding season.
