2 kids drown while picking water lilies

Two minor kids drowned in a waterbody at Sadullahpur upazila in Gaibandha district on Saturday (November 4) while they were picking water lilies from there.

The deceased were identified as Riyon Miah, 8, son of Shahid Miah, and Tamim Miah, 6, son of Mizanur Rahman, residents of Raghabendrapur village in the upazila.

Quoting locals, Sadullahpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahbub Alam said the two children drowned in the evening after they went to a waterbody to pick water lilies.

Later, they were rescued by the fire service men and taken to nearby Palashbari Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
