UP chairman hacked to death in Rangpur

A Union Parishad was hacked to death allegedly by miscreants in Pairaband Bazar under Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur on Monday (November 5).

The deceased was known as Mahbubar Rahman, Pairaband Union Parishad Chairman.

Police and locals said the victim was heading to home after closing his medicine shop around 10:00 pm. Meanwhile, local fish trader Harun Mia attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured. Later, locals took him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

Mithapukur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said that centering the murder issue, tension is prevailing in the area. Additional police forces were deployed in the area.
