Ex-BCL leader stamps 43 ballots: Probe committee formed

A probe body has been formed to investigate the incident of video that showed a former BCL leader stamping on the ‘boat’ symbol in ballot papers in the open.
The 57-second video, which went viral on social media on Monday, shows the former BCL leader stamping on 43 ballots. Another person was seen helping him.
Following the issue, a one-member probe committee was formed on Monday night (November 6). District election officer Mohammad Safiqur Rahman was asked to submit the probe report within the next three working days.
The returning officer of the by-election also Cumilla local election officer Md Farhad Hossain confirmed the matter.
It is known that the person in the video was Azad Hossain, the former vice-president of Chandraganj thaka unit BCL. He worked as a polling agent of ‘boat’ at Dakkhin Khaguria Government Primary School in Digholi union parishad in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
Speaking about the video, Cumilla local election officer Farhad Hossain said the issue has come to our attention. The incident is being taken seriously.
