Initiatives should be taken from right now

The question papers of Secondary School Certificate (SCC) were leaked consistently this year, which probably broke all records of the past. An urgent meeting was also held at Secretariat over the epidemic of question leakage.

According to media reports, some important decisions were taken in the inter-ministerial meeting to prevent question paper leakage along with other related matters.

After the meeting, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Sohrab Hossain said, "From next year, SSC examinations will be taken with new question papers as well as new method."

He, however, could not clarify new method of the examinations.

Alongside, all gave their consents over making question bank in the meeting, he said.

At present, the way of question paper leakage has made a shame for the nation. All students, teachers, guardians, examinees and other people concerned want fair examinations. No one with good faith can support or accept the question leakage. Different steps were also taken for preventing the ill activities this year, but all went in vain.

In this circumstance, officials concerned took several decisions over the issue.  We expect that their initiatives will be fruitful.

But, it is also necessary to think disadvantages of changing examination system frequently, which students will face. In fact, all arrangements will go to hell, if all the concerned people do not carry out their duties with honesty and devotion. It will not help holding examinations fairly.

SSC is the first important step in student life. Students start knowing the test method properly from long before. They may have a problem in preparation, if the exam method is changed suddenly.

Of course, the arrangements should be taken to hold examinations in a fair manner. Alongside, it should be kept in mind that the candidates will not fall in troubles. It requires a proper and sustainable test management.

After some days (April 2), the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination will begin. There is no scope to accommodate with a new exam method within this short period.

But, steps are needed to prevent question leakage and to hold the examinations fairly. Secretary Sohrab Hossain also discussed the same matter in the inter-ministerial meeting.

As there is no scope of holding the upcoming HSC examination in a new method, assistance should be taken from technology experts to identify the culprits. For this, initiatives should be taken from right now. We expect, the concerned officials will take fast and proper initiatives to hold the examinations in a fair manner.
