Students block Shahbagh intersection again protesting quota system

Students blocked Shahbagh intersection in the capital on Wednesday noon for the third consecutive day demanding cancellation of the quota system in government jobs.

Students gathered in front of Central Library at around 3:00pm and brought out a procession. Later it went round the campus and reached Shahbagh intersection. 

Following the blockade vehicular movement came to a halt on the roads from Shahbagh to Bangla Motor, Shahbagh to Science Lab, and Shahbagh to Kakrail.

Protesters said, “Recently, the High Court declared the 2018 quota cancellation circular illegal. The government filed a writ petition with the court and the court will pronounce a verdict on the quota system. We have been waiting for that. If the quota system comes back again, we will go on a tougher movement’.
