Barishal University gets first female VC 

Shuchita Sharmin, a professor at Dhaka University’s Development Studies Department, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Barishal University.

A gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md Shahinur Islam was issued in this regard on Monday (September 23).

She has been appointed as the fifth VC of the university, also becoming the first woman to hold the post. 
Suchita Sharmin completed her BSc and MSc in psychology from Dhaka University and started her career as a lecturer in 2003. She is doing her PhD in Development Studies.

She has published more than 45 articles in international journals and three books.
