Children happy with new books

Primary and secondary students got new textbooks in the first morning of the New Year 2020, as the  national textbook festival is being celebrated across the country today (Wednesday).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the free textbook distribution programme by handing over books to primary and secondary students at a function at Ganabhaban in the capital on Tuesday.

A programme was organised at the central paly ground of the Dhaka University today.

Secretary of the Primary and Mass Education Md Akram-Al-Hossain presided over the programme.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossen was present as the chief guest and Chairman of the standing committee of the ministry Advocate Mostafizur Rahman was present as the special guest.

Shirin Akhter, Nazrul Islam Babu, MP, Ferdous Islam and crickter Sakib-al Hasan were also present.

Ministry sources said a textbook festival of secondary level students was also held at Adhar Chandra Government High School in Savar.

Distribution of free textbook started since 2010 at both primary and secondary levels in the country.
