RU introduces digital ID card for its students

RAJSHAHI, Sept 17: Rajshahi University (RU) has introduced high technology digital Identification card for its students.
Vice-chancellor Prof Mijanuddin formally opened the card at a function held at senate building Tuesday. He terms the venture as epoch-making and said it will supplement the government endeavor to build digital Bangladesh and vision-2021.
Extension and Renovation of Network and Building Automated Office Management System, a component of the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project of RU, implemented the ID card programme.
In the opening ceremony, Sub-project Manager Prof Dr Rakib Ahmed illustrated the technical and application sides of the card.
He said the card attached with radio frequency identification will be used as identification of the general students.
Besides, various other uses like appearance in class, examination, dormitories, library and computer centre will be recorded.
Apart from this, after depositing money in it the card can spend the money as payment of various fees to the university.
Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Students Adviser Prof Sadequl Arefin also spoke on the occasion.
