Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that Honours and Masters’ certificate are of no use if you cannot use these. Those who will have university or technical education in the future, will take a decision with much thought. In fact, in technical sector, employment will be much faster, you can be established much faster.

She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Chhatra League at the Soparjito Swadhinota Chatwar of Dhaka University on Saturday (January 14).

The minister said, “The countries of the world have progressed, they have progressed by focusing on technical education. That is why Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also given importance to technical education. Those who will teach, go into research, go into specific professions, take them in higher education.”

Regarding the fourth industrial revolution, the education minister said, “We could not be a part of the last three industrial revolutions. However, now is our chance to be a part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and to gain success. In consideration of these, appropriate curriculum should be formulated to face all the challenges of 21st century. Out of the education system which was based on rote learning, certificate, examination, we have to acquire knowledge as well as skills. Besides, soft skills should be brought into the education system.

About the new curriculum Dipu Moni said, “To go to a new curriculum one has to go through many tests. We are still at that stage. This curriculum will be implemented in three years in 2023, 2024 and 2025. This year the books have gone experimental. Last year we conducted a pilot project in 62 educational institutions, we got positive response from all the teachers-students-parents of those institutions.”

She also said, “This year, we have given the books as an experimental version to 33,000 secondary schools. We will take feedback from students-parents-teachers-educators. The books will be revised and refined. This time, the books that have gone to the sixth and seventh classes, some may have discomfort-objection. Tell us the things. We will review them and revise them for next year. The rest of the class books will be made in that light.”
