The secondary school teachers have continued their movement and position in front of National Press Club for the ninth consecutive day on Wednesday, avoiding the directions of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).
They have remained locked all schools across the country from July 16 (Sunday), demanding nationalization of the institutions.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has issued several directions, including presence of teachers at their institutions. However, on Wednesday it was seen that avoiding the directions teachers from across the country have come in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA) General Secretary Principal Sheikh Kowsar Ahmed said without announcement of the nationalization, we will not withdraw our movement. We will not return home if our demands are not met.
He alleged that it is sad that secondary education has not been nationalised to date, although 50 years have passed since the nationalisation of primary education.
“We are being deprived of various opportunities without nationalisation of private secondary education institutions”, he said.
